Customer Care Awards – Commitment to the Ideals of the Journey of Flavour Program
Two awards were presented to Journey of Flavour members for their commitment to the program.
The first of the two, was presented to Kerrie McMahon from World Par-Tea
"Kerrie goes to great lengths to promote both the JoF program and her proud participation in it. Kerrie operates what is essentially a home based business but this doesn’t stop her enthusiastically waving the JoF flag wherever she has an opportunity. This includes her Farmer’s Market display, her attendance at conferences such as the International Women’s Day, the In-Sync networking evenings and her other displays and advertisements. Kerrie is a proud ambassador and we thank her for her commitment."
Congratulations World Par-Tea!
The second award was presented to Kathy Balodis from The Corner Restaurant
"The Corner Restaurant was chosen for this award because of the staff’s constant endeavours to utilise and feature local, seasonal produce on their menues. They recently released four Corner condiments featuring local ingredients and produced in association with last year’s winner of this award, Eric Robinson “The Other Chef Fine Foods”. JoF features on their menus, the internet and all advertising."
Congratulations The Corner Restaurant!
The cooks for this month (July) are local garlic farmer Jeremy Bradley and Comboyne blueberry farmer Penny Tideman. The judges are Gunnar Fuhrmann - Huntingdon School principal, Sharon Davidson - Lifestyle Magazine editor and Bev McMullen - ABC Mid Coast radio presenter.
If you would like to participate in the Cook-Off as either a judge or a cook, please contact Elly Franchimont on telephone 6585 6636 for further details.

Ricardoes struts the red carpet
Local farm and tourist attraction Ricardoes Tomatoes & Strawberries was chosen as the ambassador for and to represent Greater Port Macquarie Tourism in a TV travel program that went to air to around half a million viewers nationally in July.
A crew of 11 from caravan and camping show “What’s Up Down Under”, including host Frankie J. Holden and his eight-year-old daughter Georgie, filmed for a day in Ricardoes’ greenhouses for the half-hour episode. They brought along a motorhome and a caravan and 4WD to demonstrate the farm’s dedicated tourism facilities including its big sealed car park for RVs travelling the NSW east coast.
The crew, from Melbourne, selected Ricardoes also because of its strategic position next to the Pacific Highway.
Ricardoes has won the Greater Port Macquarie Chamber of Commerce “best tours and attractions” award for the past two years and is a foundation member and keen supporter of Journey of Flavour. Its preserves, made in a local kitchen from its own fruit, are multi-award winners from fine food shows around Australia. Ricardoes employs a local workforce of 20 staff.
